The Australasian Horror Writers Association (‘AHWA’) has tonight elected a new committee, entrusted with the role of overseeing the associations activities for the next twelve months as it continues to not only rebuild, but also provide support to Australian and New Zealand based Horror and Dark Fiction authors.
Acting President Brendon Meynell was elected as the associations President moving forward, and will continue in the rebuild of the AHWA website, and its renewed membership drive.
Greg Chapman was elected by those in attendance to be the associations Vice President and with his ties as the art designer for the Horror Writers Association (‘HWA’) Bram Stoker Awards will bring the experience and renewed vision to his role.
James Doig will continue in his role as Secretary, as well as take a part time role as Treasurer – a position the AHWA is still looking to fill.
Greg Chapman, in addition to his role as Vice President will also become the Australian Shadows Award Coordinator, while Anthony P Ferguson and Silvia Brown were added as General Committee Members to help out when and if possible.
Shane Jiraiya Cummings has been appointed as Managing Editor of a new and revitalized Midnight Echo Magazine which now looks to be published online as a half yearly publication.
The committee has committed to focusing on a membership drive to encourage new and former members to take up a membership with the Australasian Horror Writers Association.
In addition the Committee is also committed to both the Mentorship and Critique Group Programs – and looking to expand and enhance on the popularity of the Flash Fiction and Short Story competitions.
