Submission period open for Midnight Echo

With the Midnight Echo Magazine returning in 2017 with their much anticipated Issue 12 – edited by Shane J Cummings who has Anthony Ferguson under his wing as part of the Australasian Horror Writers Associations’ Mentorship Program – another call is going out for submissions to appear in the magazine.

The Midnight Echo Magazine will be an online magazine, with only Issue 13 (2018) appearing in print as the AHWA makes an appearance at SupaNova in Melbourne, and will be widely available all across the globe.

Currently the Midnight Echo Magazine seek original, previously unpublished horror fiction and non-fiction on horror-related subjects. As the AHWA’s goal is to support the genre in Australasia, we only accept unsolicited submissions from writers in (or originally from) Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific Islands.

While AHWA would like to pay writers more for their work, the organization is run by volunteers and has limited funds. Our goal is to develop emerging Australasian writers and give them experience working with editors, which we hope is a value above and beyond what we’re able to pay for their work. However, through more writers becoming AHWA members and more readers purchasing copies of Midnight Echo or the Dead of Night anthology, AHWA can strengthen its financial position and increase its rates.

For the upcoming Issue 12 of Midnight Echo Magazine the editorial team are looking for Flash Stories (up to 1000 words), Short Stories (1000-5000 words), Novelettes (5000-15k words) and Novellas (15k -25k words). In addition to this Issue 12 of Midnight Echo will also be taking a slight turn in direction and are seeking non-fiction submissions including interviews (up to 1000 words) and Articles or Essays (1000-5000 words).

With the vast amount of graphical talent submissions have also been opened for cover art to be submitted. Midnight Echo Magazine are always looking for art that is dark, sinister, or scary (but suitable for a general audience).

For anyone based in the Australasian region who is interested in submitting for ISSUE 12 of Midnight Echo Magazine you are encouraged to read the submission guidelines.
