Membership Fee Increase

Following a recent member survey and some considered discussion, the AHWA Committee has unanimously approved an increase in membership fees, commencing January 1, 2018.

The annual fee for membership will now be $40.

Although the fee hasn’t been raised for many years, the ongoing and increasing costs of maintaining the AHWA’s various programs, website, awards and related trophies and publications such as Midnight Echo Magazine has necessitated the increase.

The AHWA wants to and needs to grow in status and membership. The Committee is working on expanding the AHWA’s presence at major conventions and is also actively seeking sponsorship for the Australian Shadows Awards and the Flash and Short Fiction competition. Plans for an awards ceremony for the Australian Shadows Awards are also being considered. Advertising the AHWA more broadly is also on the committee’s agenda as well as a new online forum for members through the AHWA website.

Ultimately, we want to deliver more writing services to members, in addition to the Critique Group and Mentor Program.

We thank you for your continued support. We also take this opportunity to encourage any member who may want to assist the AHWA to contact the committee at
