Midnight Echo is the official magazine of the Australian Horror Writers Association.
Each issue contains more than 100 pages of horror (or dark) fiction, poetry, art, graphic novels, book releases, and more!
The magazine is released each issue as a limited print edition and as a PDF (eBook formats are coming soon!), and is distributed in hard copy and electronic format to readers all across the world, including AHWA members and Horror Writers Association members in the United States.
The limited print editions of each issue are currently printed by Black House Comics.
Midnight Echo magazine is guest edited by Australia’s most respected horror editors and authors. Guest editors have included Angela Challis (editor, Black: Australian Dark Culture Magazine and the Australian Dark Fantasy & Horror series), Leigh Blackmore (editor, Terror Australis), Kirstyn McDermott (author, Madigan Mine), and Shane Jiraiya Cummings (editor, Black Box). No two issues will ever be the same.

Midnight Echo is only open to submissions during the following periods each year:
September 01 – January 31
March 1 – July 31
Submissions received outside of these periods will be deleted without being read, unfortunately…
Some issues will be themed, so please check the Submission Guidelines before submitting anything. All of the details relating to the open issue will be posted there.

About the AHWA
The Australian Horror Writers Association (AHWA) is the peak professional body for Australian authors of dark fiction (horror, dark fantasy, and paranormal fiction). The AHWA was founded in 2003, and since its incorporation in 2005, the Association has implemented an annual flash & short story competition, a mentorship program, online writers forums, successful critique groups, news and article archives, the Australian Shadows award, and Midnight Echo.
