Writers, editors, artists, photographers, filmmakers, game designers, screenwriters, and anyone creative that I have missed.

The Australian Horror Writers Association has arranged a three-day/two-night stay at Beechworth Mental Hospital (formerly Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum) for writers, editors, artists and any other creative-type people.
It will involve having the days to create and the nights to investigate how to be scared stiff. There will be a ghost tour on the Friday night, and a paranormal investigation over the whole weekend, run by the Australian Paranormal Society.
When: THREE (3) DAYS - October 11-13 2013
How Much: $345 PER PERSON all-inclusive three days
Includes: accommodation/partial catering/tour/paranormal investigation.
Supplied: Basic breakfast (toast and cereal, spreads); sandwiches and rolls for lunch; bottled water/cordial; coffee/tea/milk (including skim, A2, and soy)/sugar; cutlery and crockery.
Please supply sleeping bag and bedding.
There will be writing workshops held over the course of the weekend.
FRIDAY NIGHT:
7 pm-8.00 pm: A get to know you session - a short presentation from each person on who they are, what they like to create, and what they hope to achieve over the weekend. ALSO INCLUDES a run-down on rules, introduction to our hosts etc.
8.30 pm - Historical/ghost tour of the facility
SATURDAY:
9.30 am-11.00 am: A workshop discussing the merits of the winner of the Shadows Award Short Story section.
2.30 pm - 4.00 pm: A workshop on success in publication and/or promotion - each person to introduce their progress towards publication, how long it took, what strategies they used for both achieving publication or successful promotion strategies once published, followed by a discussion on new possibilities.
SUNDAY:
9 am: Story critique workshop. A time for people to look at a short piece (either a short story or a section of something longer) that the writer wants to read out for the group. Short stories can be uploaded to the group prior to the event.

The Rules:
- No amplified music (bring headphones)
- No unsupervised wandering inside of the facility without prior permission
- All participants must be at least 18 years of age (or 15 if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian)
- Please advise of all illnesses/conditions/allergies that may impact upon the event
We want our guests to have fun, but we do expect responsible behaviour. Play nice, and pay attention to your guide and/or other crew members who are looking out not just for you, but for the safety and enjoyment of everyone on the premises.
Remember; this is a creative retreat as well as a stay at a haunted asylum, so please respect the others during the day and try not to be disruptive to the creative process.
AHWA Asylum Creative Retreat reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone or to expel guests who, in our judgement, are behaving in such a way as to disrupt the event or to pose a danger to the facility, themselves, other guests, or our volunteers, at any time. In these circumstances, no refunds will be made for any reason.
